Convert and resize photos in three steps

  1. Add JPG or PNG images. The upload window closes when the editor opens.
  2. Choose an image, set its format, dimensions, crop, rotation or JPEG quality. Use Apply or Preview to see its result and file size.
  3. Save one edited image, or download a ZIP for a batch. Original files remain unchanged.

JPEG to PNG and PNG to JPEG

PNG uses lossless compression and supports transparent pixels. JPEG uses lossy compression and is often suitable for smaller photo files. JPEG exports replace transparent pixels with your chosen background color. Converting an already-compressed JPEG to PNG does not restore missing detail and can make the file larger.

Resize, crop and compress images

Set a width or height in pixels with the aspect ratio locked, or unlock it to set both dimensions. Choose Edit crop to open the original in the main canvas. Draw a crop, move its box or resize its corners, and adjust the same crop using its percentage fields. Apply replaces the main canvas with the edited result; Preview opens a larger window. Rotate by 90, 180 or 270 degrees. JPEG quality controls compression; PNG size is mainly reduced by using fewer pixels. Enlarging an image does not add detail.

Batch editing with previews

Each image has its own settings. Copy settings to all images when useful, then check each preview: different proportions may need different crops or dimensions. The editor reports whether the result is smaller or larger than the original. Changing JPEG quality after Apply refreshes the result while preserving the other edits. Other changed settings are marked pending until applied. Undo and Redo restore settings and discard outdated prepared downloads.

Privacy and practical limits

Processing uses your browser, without uploading image files. Use Clear images to discard this editor's in-memory originals and results. Canvas exports do not copy source metadata. Large images can use substantial memory: the editor limits batches to 50 images, 256 MB and 128 megapixels, with 50 MB and 32 megapixels per image. Other formats, including HEIC, need conversion to JPEG or PNG first.

Image editor — FAQ

Is this image editor free?

Yes. JPEG/PNG conversion, resizing, crop, rotation and JPEG compression are free, without an account.

How do I compare the original and edited image?

The original stays in a small thumbnail. Apply shows the edited result in the main canvas with its file size. Preview opens a larger window; use its top-right close button or Escape to return to editing.

How do I crop an image?

Choose Edit crop to show the original in the large canvas. Drag to draw a crop, move the box or resize its corner handles. You can also adjust its percentage fields. Apply shows the cropped result; View result leaves crop mode.

Why are JPEG quality and background disabled?

These controls apply only to JPEG output. Select JPEG under Format to enable them. PNG uses lossless encoding and keeps transparent pixels.

Does JPEG background remove a photo background?

No. It fills transparent areas with your selected color when exporting JPEG. Existing opaque backgrounds stay unchanged; this tool does not automatically remove or replace a photo background.

Does changing JPEG quality undo my edits?

No. After Apply, changing quality automatically regenerates the edited image with its existing crop, rotation, dimensions and selected background. It does not download anything. Other changed settings keep the last applied image visible with a changes-pending label until you apply them.

Will compression always make my image smaller?

No. Results depend on the original, dimensions, format and JPEG quality. Preview shows the actual size. Lower JPEG quality may reduce size at the cost of detail; reducing pixel dimensions can also help. PNG conversion may make a JPEG larger.

Does enlarging an image improve its quality?

No. Increasing width or height adds pixels by resampling; it cannot recover missing detail. Keep aspect ratio enabled to avoid stretching. Converting JPEG to PNG does not reverse earlier compression loss.

Can I edit several images at once?

Yes. Set each image individually or copy settings to all images, then check each preview. Copying includes output dimensions and crop proportions, so differently shaped images may need adjustments. Save downloads a ZIP for a batch, with distinct filenames.

What do Undo and Redo restore?

They restore image settings and discard outdated prepared results and previews. Apply, Preview or Save regenerates the result from the restored settings. Originals stay unchanged.

Which image formats and sizes are supported?

Upload JPEG or PNG. HEIC, GIF and WebP are not accepted by this editor. Limits are 50 images, 50 MB per image, 256 MB per batch, 32 megapixels per image, 128 megapixels per batch and 16,384 pixels per side. Large images can still take time on your device.

Are my photos uploaded or saved by the website?

Image processing runs in your browser without uploading photo contents for processing. Originals, results and history remain in page memory. Clear images discards this editor session. Downloaded files remain where you saved them; closing a tab is not a guarantee of secure erasure from your device.

Is image metadata retained?

Canvas exports do not copy source metadata such as EXIF or GPS tags. This does not remove information visible in the image itself.
